The Farmhouse Barn is a modern, rustic Sturgis venue that started as just an idea between women sipping on cocktails.

“Two nurses who had a vision of building a new barn that had the feel of a 100 year old barn,” said co-owner Amy Gustafson.

The idea came from the desire to offer a gathering place for people to have fun and celebrate love.

“People should consider the Farmhouse barn for its unique feel, down-to-earth service, and affordability,” said Gustafson.

Anyone booking the venue should expect to work directly with the owners from start to finish.

“Savannah and I are with our couples from the minute they inquire about hosting their special day at the Farmhouse Barn all the way up to the actual day of their event,” she said.

The owners add that guests should never feel rushed during their time at the venue.

“We are interested in the couple and guests getting to enjoy their experience for two to three days,” said co-owner Savannah Horst. “It’s not a rush but more of an experience, and they can take in their special moment for a few days.”

“Make the day about you.”

The barn, which accommodates up to 266 inside, offers four package options. One option allows couples to choose two days between Monday and Thursday for their event. A second option spans Thursday to Friday, and a third spans Saturday to Sunday.

These three packages allow access to the venue from 9 a.m. the first day to midnight the second day.

“My goal for each wedding is to make sure that every couple feels like they got the full Farmhouse experience.”

“We offer a 48-hour package that allows you to take your time, decorate, and host your rehearsal and rehearsal dinner the day before, and then feel relaxed the day of your wedding and reception,” said Gustafson.

The fourth package allows the couples access for the entire weekend from noon on Friday to noon on Sunday.

All four packages offer tables, chairs, bartending both inside and out, a marquee sign, patio space, outdoor power, a fire pit, outdoor games, parking, and more. The venue offers beer and wine.

And if the package offerings do not cover everything wanted for the couple’s wedding, check out additional offers.

Look into adding on a rehearsal bartender, extra bartending hours, designing services, extra hours to the day, the overnight honeymoon suite, and rentals.

“We offer a host of rentals—from arbors to linens and everything in between,” said Gustafson.

During the day of the ceremony, each package includes access to space for getting ready.

“We have no middle men and love the fact that the two of us are super involved and available to our couples from day one.”

The on-site bridal suite, the Farmhouse Cottage, was once an old farmhouse in Belle Fourche that was close to being burnt down.

Gustafson and Horst, with the help of their husbands and friends, had the structure moved to their property.

Wedding Planning Advice

+ Booking asap is so important so you can hand pick your vendors.

+ Stay organized, and if that is not you, hire a wedding planner or day-of wedding coordinator.

+ Don’t worry about the little details and what didn’t go right (because something will go wrong). Just enjoy your special moments, and take them in.

“It sat on the property as a fun photo op,” said Horst “In May of 2022, we renovated it, and now it’s a cute bridal and honey suite.”

On the exterior, old, weathered paint covers the wood as modern doors welcome guests into the space.

“It has the fun shabby chic outside with a modern farmhouse vibe inside,” she added.
The cottage is also available to add on as a honeymoon suite and is listed on Airbnb.
